Summer Camp Mural

I recently volunteered my time on a project for a temporary mural at a Summer Camp in California. I dealt with kids aged 5 – 14 in different groups who came through and we brainstormed a character for each group. The theme was “Celebrate Imagination” which we took as the weirder the better, so this gang of goofy characters is what was born. I would sketch the character as we talked through its features then the kids would paint it in, I tightened it up with the blackoutline once they were dry so the mural would sit as one collaborative work. All the groups had a great time and really got involved, trying to “out-weird” the previous groups. A very fun project in a beautiful outdoor surrounding.

As you may be able to see it is painted on a series of foam-core panels, once completed it was taken down and used for a carnival event “Theme Day” as a Jumbo size jigsaw puzle. This was also a great success.
