On The road with Johnny Cupcakes

In September 2011 I was on tour with Bring Me The Horizon, Parkway Drive, Architects, Deez Nuts and On Broken Wings. Johnny Cupcakes is a member of the original lineup of On Broken Wings and decided to take a break his everyday life of running the label and back to where it started when he was first starting the brand, on the road with the band. We travelled from Boston down the east coast, through the south and up to saltlake city. Just over two weeks with shows everynight.

I wanted to take the opportunity to have an insight into who Johnny is and what it was like being back on tour and away from his wildly sucessful and hectic business life. And to explore his thoughts on what it means to travel and gain inspiration from the world around us.

This is a video for Johnny Cupcakes fans. an insight into the man behind the brand who I am proud to call my friend, he is one of the nicest humans i have ever met who will make time for anyone to chat and have a laugh.

Enjoy

Summer Camp Mural

I recently volunteered my time on a project for a temporary mural at a Summer Camp in California. I dealt with kids aged 5 – 14 in different groups who came through and we brainstormed a character for each group. The theme was “Celebrate Imagination” which we took as the weirder the better, so this gang of goofy characters is what was born. I would sketch the character as we talked through its features then the kids would paint it in, I tightened it up with the blackoutline once they were dry so the mural would sit as one collaborative work. All the groups had a great time and really got involved, trying to “out-weird” the previous groups. A very fun project in a beautiful outdoor surrounding.

As you may be able to see it is painted on a series of foam-core panels, once completed it was taken down and used for a carnival event “Theme Day” as a Jumbo size jigsaw puzle. This was also a great success.

Brendan & Ambers Wedding Photobooth

So back in March some friends here in Seattle got married which was an Awesome event! I was asked to help out by designing a background for a photobooth at the wedding. They are both punk rock kids and wanted something that showed a little more of them, They have a great record collection so i went over and shot a selection then layed them out and formatted it for large scale printing. Here is some process shots and some shots from the booth on the night! Thanks Brendan and Amber for an awesome night, you guys rule!

A tribute to the Arthouse.

art-poster-preview600

So im super proud to share this poster design that i did, with the help of Mick Thomas for the photo as im no longer living in Melbourne. Due to this I am missing out on the final arthouse shows which makes me very sad, I wanted to create something in tribute to 9 years of attending my favorite venue. Ever.

This poster will be available at the final Mindsnare show at the Arty on April 29. They are a3 size, and will be available free to all those in attendance at the end of the show with thanks to Mindsnare for getting them printed up. So everyone can take one homw, and hopefully enjoy the memories. If anyone gets one and has it framed, post up a photo and share it. To all my friends attending. Stage dive for me. I miss you all.

Aces For Hire

A little while back i did a logo/branding design for a Town Car service here in Seattle. Saw these business cards in a random store promoting it which is always nice to see your work turn uop in random places. The rounded corners finish the job nicely.

I was never huge on branding work but im actually getting way more into it, i have a few projects on the go right now that will have multiple outputs once done in the form of stationary, business cards, web and more. Excited to share them soon.
